Las Ánimas Beach is a beautiful beach with golden sand and calm, crystal-clear waters located in the municipality of Cabo Corrientes, south of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. It is famous for its relaxed atmosphere, its beachfront seafood restaurants, and for being ideal for family swimming.

How to get there

• By boat (panga): You can take a boat from the Boca de Tomatlán dock (the trip costs about $100 MXN per trip) or from the Puerto Vallarta boardwalk.

• Walking: There is a trail surrounded by nature that starts from Boca de Tomatlán and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to walk

• Swim and relax: Enjoy its very gentle waves and rent sun loungers under the palapas.

• Eat seafood: Visit the wide variety of local restaurants with fish and typical dishes.

• Water sports: Try the banana boat ride, parasailing , or rent kayaking and snorkeling equipment.

To get to Playa Las Ánimas from Puerto Vallarta , you have three main options. Since there are no roads to this beach, the last leg must be done by boat or on foot .

Option 1: The cheapest and most popular route (Via Boca de Tomatlán)

This option combines a short road trip and a quick boat trip.

1. To get to Boca de Tomatlán : Take the orange and white city bus that says "Boca" at the corner of Basilio Badillo and Constitución streets (in the Romantic Zone). It costs approximately $10–$15 MXN and takes about 30 minutes. You can also take an Uber or taxi.

2. Take the boat (panga) : At the Boca de Tomatlán dock, board a public water taxi. They depart frequently, the trip takes 15 to 20 minutes and costs between $100 and $150 MXN per person for a one-way trip .

Option 2: Direct boat from the center (Muelle de Los Muertos)

If you prefer to avoid trucks or highway traffic, you can depart directly from Puerto Vallarta.

• How it works : Head to the Los Muertos Beach Pier in the Romantic Zone.

• Details : Water taxis depart in the morning. The journey takes about 40 to 50 minutes and costs around $250 to $350 MXN for a one-way trip .

Option 3: Jungle Hiking (For adventurers)

You can combine the Option 1 truck with a spectacular walk along the coast.

• How it works : Arrive at Boca de Tomatlán, cross the pedestrian bridge over the river and follow the marked path south.

• Details : This is a moderately difficult hike of about 3 kilometers that takes between 1.5 and 2 hours. Along the way, you'll pass hidden coves like the famous Colomitos Beach and Caballo Beach.

• Tip : Many travelers prefer to walk there in the morning and return by boat in the afternoon to avoid getting too tired.
